Early Preschool is 2 1/2 to 3 year old students who are fully potty trained and ready for a full day preschool. The Discover-Learn Achieve curriculum is designed to introduce students to multiple subjects while allowing them to learn through exploration and imagination. Students interact with their peers, reinforcing social confidence as well s independence. Focus in the Early Preschool Classroom

Children are encouraged to explore and discover new ways to learning daily. Early Preschool children are introduced to a daily school schedule, including language arts units that focus on expanding the child’s current vocabulary. Early Preschool students refine skills by exploring math concepts and learn more about the world around them by observing and participating in classroom science experiments. Using social skills, Preschool students will be introduced to their roles and responsibilities in the world.

Rewards & Discipline

Early Preschool teachers encourage children with behavior charts and lots of praise! Children are rewarded for such things as: “using gentle hands,” sharing, clean-up and good “listening ears.” When a child is displaying inappropriate behavior, the teacher will re-direct them. When inappropriate is continually displayed, children sit in a “Thinking Chair” to think about making better choices.

Nutrition

Early Preschool students bring packed lunches or purchase a catered lunch. Students who come before 8:30 a.m. may bring breakfast to eat at school. Dublin Learning Academy provides snacks for Early Preschool students as well as milk at both meals and snack times. Please note that due to the health risks of students with severe allergies, Dublin Learning Academy has a school-wide peanut-free policy. Microwaves and refrigerators are located in the classroom for food storage convenience. Parents are responsible for supplying a labelled water bottle for their child each day.

Nap Time

Early Preschool children take a nap each day after lunch. Each child has their own cot for nap time. Parents provide a sheet which is sent home the last school day of the week to wash and return the following week.

Enrolling your child in the Early Preschool Class

The decision to enroll your child is an exciting one! We want to make the transition for your family a pleasant one. Please complete and return all paperwork before your child’s first day. You may want to consider labeling all personal items in advance as well. The office is available to answer any time!
