Welcome to the Dreamer Classroom!
1 1/2 – 2 years

The Dreamer classroom is designed especially for toddlers who are 1 1/2-2 years old. Dreamers are busy toddlers experiencing important social, emotional, and academic growth. Everything about the Dreamer experience is intended to stimulate the emotional-intellectual development of each toddler. Through hands-on activities, children explore the world around them and become excited about learning. The Dreamer classroom focuses on refining the basic skills of color, shape, number and letter recognition while verbalizing in daily activities. Children are encouraged to be independent problem solvers while making friends and learning life lessons. Through age-appropriate lesson plans that are designed around their needs and interests, Dublin Learning Academy is able to assist Dreamers as they meet personal developmental milestones in a fun and educational way.

Focus in the Dreamer Classroom
Children are encouraged to explore and discover new ways of learning daily. Dreamers begin to recognize letters of the alphabet through song, as well as through reciting other short songs and nursery rhymes. Basic vocabulary, shapes, and colors are covered at circle time daily. Teachers reinforce counting to 10, naming body parts, and family members as well as using art projects to engage the children in monthly themes.
Rewards & Discipline
In the Dreamer Classroom, teachers encourage children with lots of praise! Children are rewarded for such things as: “using gentle hands,” sharing, cleaning up, and good “listening ears.” When a child is displaying inappropriate behavior the teacher will re-direct them.
Nutrition
Dreamers can bring packed lunches to school or buy a catered lunch. Snacks are provided by Dublin Learning Academy. Dublin Learning Academy provides milk for students at meal and snack times. Microwaves and refrigerators are located in the classroom for food storage convenience. Dreamers who come before 8:30 a.m. may bring a breakfast to eat at school as well. Please note that due to the health risks of students with severe allergies, Dublin Learning Academy has a school-wide peanut-free policy. Parents are responsible for supplying 4 labeled sippy cups for each day (2 for snacks, 1 for lunch and 1 for water).
Nap Time
Dreamers take one nap per day. Each child has her/her own crib and at 16 months, each student has his/her own cot. All bedding is provided by the parent and bedding is sent home the last day of each week to wash and return.
Potty Training and Diaper Changing
It is at this age that Dreamers begin to take an interest in potty training. Teachers work with families to determine when each child is ready to start potty training. Children are either asked to go potty or their diaper will be changed every two hours unless otherwise needed. Students will need extra clothes for accidents. Parents supply diapers, wipes and diaper cream (as necessary) for their child. Teachers notify parents when supplies are low. Parents are asked to bring in two packages of wipes for each month. Please refer to the parent handbook for diaper changing policies and procedures.
Enrolling your child in the Dreamer Class
The decision to enroll your child is an exciting one! Dublin Learning Academy wants to make the transition for your family pleasant. Please complete and return all paperwork before your child’s first day. Make sure to label all personal items. The office is available to answer questions any time!
